What is a facelift?

A facelift is the surgical removal of excess skin with or without tightening of the underlying tissues to improve the visible signs of aging along the lower face. This procedure is often combined with a neck lift to rejuvenate and tighten this region as well.

What type of anesthesia is used during the procedure?

A facelift is typically performed under general anesthesia, but in certain circumstances can be completed under intravenous conscious sedation.

What conditions will a facelift correct?

A facelift can help minimize or eliminate wrinkles, re-suspend sagging muscles, and tighten the skin.

What conditions will a facelift not correct?

A facelift does not address wrinkles on the forehead or around the mouth. Also, it will not correct the actual quality of the skin or damage due to sun exposure.

Who is a good candidate for facelift surgery?

Men or women who are physically healthy, who do not smoke, and have a positive outlook with realistic expectations are the best candidates for this procedure.
